Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Khumtai)
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Golaghat, Khumtai is a frontline agricultural extension center under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) that plays a vital role in bridging the gap between research and farmers’ fields. Established to provide scientific support to the farming community of Golaghat district, the KVK works to introduce farmers to modern agricultural technologies, sustainable practices, and profitable farm-based enterprises. It organizes training programs, demonstrations, and workshops for farmers, rural youth, and extension workers, ensuring that scientific innovations reach the grassroots level.
The KVK also focuses on location-specific research trials, integrated farming systems, livestock management, fisheries, and value addition to farm produce. By conducting on-farm testing, frontline demonstrations, and capacity-building activities, KVK Golaghat, Khumtai empowers farmers to improve productivity, reduce risks, and enhance income. It acts as a nodal point for promoting new crops, advanced farming tools, and entrepreneurial activities in agriculture and allied sectors, ultimately contributing to rural development and food security in the region.
